this could be a smart failure on the hard drive butt.. try this.

Open konqueror, click on whatever you want to copy, uset ctrl C to copy.
Then ctrl V to paste.
Do that in a variety of ways and see if you still get the same results.
Also installed GSmartControl or other HD dianostic tools and run tests on your 
hard drives.
