Your distro probably flipped a couple of things from "off" to "on", or vice-versa. The KDE5 theme stuff is probably being pulled in by the QT5 support, at a guess. In addition, VLC can pull in ffmpeg, which has its own huge assortment of flags that may have been flipped. (VLC has one of the most terrifying ebuilds I have ever seen. Now I remember why I stick to mplayer. It saves the terror for its man page.) E.
