Not to my knowledge, but it's a proprietary format, therefore subject to change without notice.

Could the files be corrupt?

Could the files be password-protected?

In the worst case, you can always download a trial version of the officially-blessed
extraction program from rarlab.com .  If it can't open the files, you'll know there's
something wrong with them.
