Interesting, thank you for the useful information. On generating the list 
of active mirrors we will have to keep in mind during migration of the 
primary server to the new tde-box!

Please can you test if yum still works poorly when 
mirror.ppa.trinitydesktop.org is used as the only item in list of mirrors?
