Hi there.

I've logged out, renamed my home directory as root and created a new empty directory which I chown'ed to me.

I copied/linked to directories for thunderbird and Google chrome, set up the panel and background as before.

Here's hoping this fixes the problem(s).
It happened again.

I found https://userbase.kde.org/System_Settings/Startup_and_Shutdown#Session_Management

It states:
To manually save a session, you must first select the "Restore manually saved session" option and "Apply". Then, when you use the "KDE Menu" -> "Leave" you will find that you have a new option - "Save Session".

In DE there is a "Restore manually saved session" option in "TDE Components" -> "Session Manager", which I selected.

When I ended the session there was no "Save Session" option from the Lock/Logout Panel Applet but it's there in the start menu!

I'll give that a try...
