But I run debian testing all the time, so update is progressive and not in one go. Have you tried using a different window theme? different icon set? just in case. Have you tried disabling artsd, again just in case? HAve you tried disabling any autostart program you launch when logging in? Have you tried logging as a new user? Hope this can help.
