If you can get either dcop (or qdbus?) to empty trash (or a folder) then you 
can also add an extra Filter Action of 'Execute command' and do what you need 
from a shell script.

There was (is?) an ‘info’ type GUI for one, or both, that I used in the past, 
which was much easier than going full command line and drilling down.

If you find a solution, please post it here, I’m sure most of us have some 
KMail cleanup tasks we could automate.  ;)
