Got interesting at times, like opening the door to walk back to the Bronco parked 3 miles back down North Mtn CO, and discovering that while I could hear the wind blowing while I was replacing a VA-723 klystron in a microwave radio, that it had buried the shack in fresh powder. Thank $Diety someone had planted 30 foot poplar poles alongside the road for markers, I could see those, along with 60 kajillian stars overhead, but your hand a foot below eyelevel. Nope. But I slogged thru 4 to 6 feet of moving powder and got back to the Bronco, lugging a big red tube caddy, a smaller toolbox and a 35 mhz Phillips scope, in about 2 hours. Got it turned around and by the time I got back to the country store about 30 miles west of Telleride, I was just in time to get the first sample of the first coffee of the day, gas up the bronco and head for Slick Rock & turn left and eventually New Mexico. That job showed me a lot of high, 10,000 foot or more back country that wasn't inhabited, not even by game, so you were for sure on your own if trouble developed. In those days, spare time usually found me at the rifle range, looking for the magic load that could make 10 bullets fit thru one ragged hole. 100 meters away.
