Dep, are you talking about the desktop switcher in the taskbar?  If so I 
turned mine off, and removed it from the taskbar, by left? right? mouse 
clicking on it and finding 'quit' on one of the resultant popup menus.  
There's a checkbox to not start again as well, which I'm guessing was on, or 
just after, the quit was selected.
