Is your goal to test TDE for Jessie on Stretch? Or to test if your problem occurs also on Stretch? As to screen blackouts, I've experienced this on computers with HDMI to VGA adapters, they seemed to be linked to problems with audio over HDMI (I have to HDMI screen whatsoever). Pulse (or whatever sound manager we use) should have a simple way to deactivate iether HDMI or "classical" sound when we don't use it.
