They were our neighbors, and we always saw their horse-drawn carts on the roads, and even were on passing friendly terms with some Amish families. Actually, the elders of each Amish community decide separately what technology they will allow to be used. They often run shops to sell their food and crafts to outsiders ("the English"), and in those shops they have electricity, computers, and accept all major credit cards.
