I could probably have found the information on those web pages, but it would have taken time to sift it out from other stuff. So I get this in my terminal: 4.0K /afs 11M /bin 160M /boot 0 /dev 57M /etc 26G /home 0 /initrd.img 0 /initrd.img.old 576M /lib 4.0K /live-build 16K /lost+found Nothing looks too much out of the ordinary; I already can account for everything in my /home directory, I think, and next biggest is /lib. So how does 18 gb vanish?
