I think KMail needs more developers attention as there are a lot of bugs and wishes and things to sort out, so perhaps you file this one so that it does not get forgotten. >From time to time when I'm bored and I have nothing better to do, I look into the code of kmail - but it is huge and complex. There is a bug with connections that makes me restart kontact every day and I want it resolved, but for now I did not find the motivation and the time to do it.
