When kmix is running und being showed in systray, right-click on it, 
choose "show volume controls" (not shure if it is called like that in English), 
and pick options (or setting) menu, and therein options/settings for kmix: 
there you can choose "autostart".

That's it basically. I haven't checked exactly on an Englich language TDE GUI, 
though.
