When I worked in the UK I told my employer my marital status and that
I didn't have a mortgage and then my UK taxes were done automatically
(although I still had to file a tax return here in the US while working
in the UK!).

Back in the US my wife spends many many hours each year collecting
numbers and sending them to a tax preparer and then checking every
line of dozens of pages of tax return.

The US tax system is toxic to everyone except billionaires who can
employ an army of lawyers and accountants so that they pay lower
tax rates than working people.

My wholly amateur and unprofessional advice to Slávek would be to
avoid any contact with the convoluted, inefficient, and expensive
US tax and legal systems.
