Hello Nab, had you already a look at vvols? As I understand it there is LUN presented to the host which is small in size. This LUN is used to piggy back SCSI commands for Volumes which are not visiable by the host but stored on the storage and grow on demand for thin provisioned virtual disks or snapshots. I wonder what is necessary to support this in linux target and if anyone is already working on it or maybe the infrastructure already exists? More informations: http://www.yellow-bricks.com/2014/05/12/virtual-volumes-vendor-demos/ I also captured iSCSI traffic between an ESX server and a demo appliance from VMware which is usind iscsid. https://thomas.glanzmann.de/vvol_network.pcap Cheers, Thomas -- To unsubscribe from this list: send the line "unsubscribe target-devel" in the body of a message to majordomo@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx More majordomo info at http://vger.kernel.org/majordomo-info.html
