lib/raid6 for offloading

Under lib/raid6 there are quite some optimized algorithms for
RAID6(and RAID5, since it's a subset of RAID6 to some extent), however
I don't see how I can leverage that for the software RAID algorithm,
e.g. drivers/md/raid5.c, what's the purpose of lib/raid6 other than
running a test benchmark program at kernel boot up? can I use those
algorithms to help speedup RAID5 somehow?

Thanks,
Xiao
