Hi Chris, this warning is harmless. It means that vSphere VAAI attempts to offload block zeroing operations to the target, which is not supported yet. ESXi falls back to non-accelerated block zeroing in this case. AFAIK, full WRITE_SAME support for IBLOCK backends will be in kernel 3.8. When I perform a vsphere datastore migration I see a ton of these warnings on the LIO server: > "WRITE_SAME w/o UNMAP bit not supported for Block Discard Emulation" > After some digging it appears to be related to the vsphere VAAI. It doesn't appear to be anything critical. My VM will move properly and continue running without issues. Anyone know what this means and if future versions of LIO will support it? I'm currently running kernel 3.7.2 on Ubuntu 12.10 > > Thanks, > Chris > > ________________________________ > > NOTICE: This e-mail and any attachments is intended only for use by the addressee(s) named herein and may contain legally privileged, proprietary or confidential information.
