hi,Colin Guthrie
When the systemd-hostnamed service is started through policykit, the password window will automatically exit, which seems to be a terrible experience

This is a dbus service which starts when needed (i.e. someone tries to
connect to it on the bus) and then terminates itself when it's not needed.
Is there a reason why you need it to keep running?
From "man systemd-hostnamed":
"It is automatically activated on request and terminates itself when
unused."
