SURFACE TRANSPORTATION BOARD SEEKS PUBLIC COMMENT ON CHRISTENSEN ASSOCIATES' "STUDY OF COMPETITION IN U.S. FREIGHT RAILROAD INDUSTRY"

The Surface Transportation Board announced today that it is seeking public
comment, by December 21, 2008, on A Study of Competition in the U.S.
Freight Railroad Industry and Analysis of Proposals that Might Enhance
Competition, an independent study prepared for the Board by Christensen
Associates, Inc.


 The study was released by the Board on November 3, 2008, and the Board
 held a public meeting today to discuss the study with Christensen
 representatives.  Interested persons are invited to submit written
 comments on the study to the Board.  Comments may be submitted in
 traditional paper form by submitting an original and 10 copies to "ATTN:
 STB Ex Parte No. 680, Surface Transportation Board, 395 E Street, S.W.,
 Washington, D.C. 20423-0001."  Comments also may also be filed
 electronically via the Board's Web site, at http://www.stb.dot.gov, by
 clicking the "E-FILING" button on the home page.


 The Board's decision requesting public comment on the Christensen study
 was issued today, November 6, 2008, in "Study of Competition in the
 Freight Railroad Industry, STB Ex Parte No. 680."(
