The Surface Transportation Board announced today that, on the 19th of
December 2007, the U.S. Senate confirmed current Board Member Francis
Patrick Mulvey of Maryland to a second term as a Board Member ending
December 31, 2012. The Senate action follows President George W. Bush's
November 30, 2007 renomination of Commissioner Mulvey to the Board.

Commissioner Mulvey was sworn in as the eighth Member of the Board on
June 2, 2004. He was nominated for his first term of office at the Board
by President Bush on November 17, 2003, for a four-year term to expire
December 31, 2007. He was confirmed by the Senate on May 21, 2004.

Pursuant to long-standing annual practice, the Board's Vice Chairmanship
will rotate, effective January 2008, to Commissioner Mulvey. He will
succeed current Vice Chairman W. Douglas Buttrey.
