The Surface Transportation Board announced today that its Section of
Environmental Analysis (SEA) has issued an Environmental Assessment (EA) on
the Ameren Energy Generating Company's proposal to construct and operate a
railroad line in southcentral Illinois.

The public is invited to submit written comments on the EA.  Commenters
should submit an original and one copy.  All comments must be postmarked by
June 30, 2005 to:

Please write the following in the lower left-hand corner of the envelope:

Attention:  Mr. David Navecky, Environmental Comments

SEA will consider all timely comments received when making its final
environmental recommendations to the Board.  The Board will then consider
SEA's final recommendations and the complete environmental record in making
its final decision in this proceeding.
