This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled iio: ABI: Clarify proximity output value to my staging git tree which can be found at git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/gregkh/staging.git in the staging-linus branch. The patch will show up in the next release of the linux-next tree (usually sometime within the next 24 hours during the week.) The patch will hopefully also be merged in Linus's tree for the next -rc kernel release. If you have any questions about this process, please let me know. >From bdc10d57f236b534fb675a4bbefd10017aeb2b26 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Daniel Baluta <daniel.baluta@xxxxxxxxx> Date: Thu, 11 Jun 2015 18:49:33 +0300 Subject: iio: ABI: Clarify proximity output value Current description for proximity measurement is ambiguous. While the first part says that proximity is measured by observing reflectivity, the second part incorrectly infers that reported values should behave like a distance. This is because of AS3935 lightning sensor which uses the proximity API, while not being a true proximity sensor. Note this is marked for stable as it accompanies a fix in ABI usage to the sx9500 driver which would otherwise appear to be correct.
