If I first apply the following commits:

f2a25160887e KVM: remove redundant assignments in __kvm_set_memory_region
f2a81036516e kvm: commonize allocation of the new memory slots

then 744961341d47 is a clean cherry-pick for the 3.16 kernel.  If you
have no objections, I'll queue all the 3 patches for this kernel.
