This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled sparc: Touch NMI watchdog when walking cpus and calling printk to the 3.10-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: sparc-touch-nmi-watchdog-when-walking-cpus-and-calling-printk.patch and it can be found in the queue-3.10 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. >From foo@baz Tue Mar 24 10:57:46 CET 2015 From: David Ahern <david.ahern@xxxxxxxxxx> Date: Thu, 19 Mar 2015 16:06:53 -0400 Subject: sparc: Touch NMI watchdog when walking cpus and calling printk From: David Ahern <david.ahern@xxxxxxxxxx> [ Upstream commit 31aaa98c248da766ece922bbbe8cc78cfd0bc920 ] With the increase in number of CPUs calls to functions that dump output to console (e.g., arch_trigger_all_cpu_backtrace) can take a long time to complete. If IRQs are disabled eventually the NMI watchdog kicks in and creates more havoc. Avoid by telling the NMI watchdog everything is ok.
