This may be the cause.

But I do not understand why such a cleanup would be backported in the first place.

FWIW, that was a mainline commit-id for 86211eea8ae167 ("btrfs: qgroup:
validate btrfs_qgroup_inherit parameter") [v6.9-rc1, v6.8.3
(f19dad4f440af4)]

Meanwhile this doesn't seem to be related, as the test case is not qgroup related at all.
