This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled net: ppp: Don't call bpf_prog_create() in ppp_lock to the 3.17-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: net-ppp-don-t-call-bpf_prog_create-in-ppp_lock.patch and it can be found in the queue-3.17 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. >From foo@baz Tue Nov 18 09:07:25 PST 2014 From: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@xxxxxxx> Date: Mon, 10 Nov 2014 11:50:21 +0100 Subject: net: ppp: Don't call bpf_prog_create() in ppp_lock From: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@xxxxxxx> [ Upstream commit 5748eb8f8e989a9da1ac7c96dc73d68cbdedf7df ] In ppp_ioctl(), bpf_prog_create() is called inside ppp_lock, which eventually calls vmalloc() and hits BUG_ON() in vmalloc.c. This patch works around the problem by moving the allocation outside the lock. The bug was revealed by the recent change in net/core/filter.c, as it allocates via vmalloc() instead of kmalloc() now.
