This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled svcrdma: Select NFSv4.1 backchannel transport based on forward channel to the 3.10-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: svcrdma-select-nfsv4.1-backchannel-transport-based-on-forward-channel.patch and it can be found in the queue-3.10 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. >From 3c45ddf823d679a820adddd53b52c6699c9a05ac Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Chuck Lever <chuck.lever@xxxxxxxxxx> Date: Wed, 16 Jul 2014 15:38:32 -0400 Subject: svcrdma: Select NFSv4.1 backchannel transport based on forward channel From: Chuck Lever <chuck.lever@xxxxxxxxxx> commit 3c45ddf823d679a820adddd53b52c6699c9a05ac upstream. The current code always selects XPRT_TRANSPORT_BC_TCP for the back channel, even when the forward channel was not TCP (eg, RDMA). When a 4.1 mount is attempted with RDMA, the server panics in the TCP BC code when trying to send CB_NULL. Instead, construct the transport protocol number from the forward channel transport or'd with XPRT_TRANSPORT_BC. Transports that do not support bi-directional RPC will not have registered a "BC" transport, causing create_backchannel_client() to fail immediately.
