Its filename is mm-khugepaged-skip-huge-page-collapse-for-special-files.patch This patch should soon appear at https://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmots/broken-out/mm-khugepaged-skip-huge-page-collapse-for-special-files.patch and later at https://ozlabs.org/~akpm/mmotm/broken-out/mm-khugepaged-skip-huge-page-collapse-for-special-files.patch Before you just go and hit "reply", please: a) Consider who else should be cc'ed b) Prefer to cc a suitable mailing list as well c) Ideally: find the original patch on the mailing list and do a reply-to-all to that, adding suitable additional cc's *** Remember to use Documentation/process/submit-checklist.rst when testing your code *** The -mm tree is included into linux-next and is updated there every 3-4 working days ------------------------------------------------------ From: Yang Shi <shy828301@xxxxxxxxx> Subject: mm: khugepaged: skip huge page collapse for special files The read-only THP for filesystems will collapse THP for files opened readonly and mapped with VM_EXEC. The intended usecase is to avoid TLB misses for large text segments. But it doesn't restrict the file types so a THP could be collapsed for a non-regular file, for example, block device, if it is opened readonly and mapped with EXEC permission. This may cause bugs, like [1] and [2]. This is definitely not the intended usecase, so just collapse THP for regular files in order to close the attack surface.
