Note, Linus has just veoted the generic bitops approach, so the patch
that will hit Linus's tree will be different.  I don't think it's
necessary to fix the changes in the stable tree, since his objection
is about not accidentally handing a howitzer to kernel devs who might
accidentally shoot off their own foot.  (Which shouldn't be a problem
since people shouldn't be doing development off a stable kernel tree.  :-)
