This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled CIFS: Fix symbolic links usage to the 3.12-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: cifs-fix-symbolic-links-usage.patch and it can be found in the queue-3.12 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. >From eb85d94bdd91fb4dbea4ee465d4349cbea4eaaca Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Pavel Shilovsky <piastry@xxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Wed, 23 Oct 2013 17:49:47 +0400 Subject: CIFS: Fix symbolic links usage From: Pavel Shilovsky <piastry@xxxxxxxxxxx> commit eb85d94bdd91fb4dbea4ee465d4349cbea4eaaca upstream. Now we treat any reparse point as a symbolic link and map it to a Unix one that is not true in a common case due to many reparse point types supported by SMB servers. Distinguish reparse point types into two groups: 1) that can be accessed directly through a reparse point (junctions, deduplicated files, NFS symlinks); 2) that need to be processed manually (Windows symbolic links, DFS); and map only Windows symbolic links to Unix ones.
