This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled usb-storage: add quirk for mandatory READ_CAPACITY_16 to my usb git tree which can be found at git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/gregkh/usb.git in the usb-linus branch. The patch will show up in the next release of the linux-next tree (usually sometime within the next 24 hours during the week.) The patch will hopefully also be merged in Linus's tree for the next -rc kernel release. If you have any questions about this process, please let me know. >From 32c37fc30c52508711ea6a108cfd5855b8a07176 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Oliver Neukum <oneukum@xxxxxxx> Date: Mon, 14 Oct 2013 15:24:55 +0200 Subject: usb-storage: add quirk for mandatory READ_CAPACITY_16 Some USB drive enclosures do not correctly report an overflow condition if they hold a drive with a capacity over 2TB and are confronted with a READ_CAPACITY_10. They answer with their capacity modulo 2TB. The generic layer cannot cope with that. It must be told to use READ_CAPACITY_16 from the beginning.
