This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled perf: Clarify perf_cpu_context::active_pmu usage by renaming to the 3.4-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: perf-clarify-perf_cpu_context-active_pmu-usage-by-renaming.patch and it can be found in the queue-3.4 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. >From 3f1f33206c16c7b3839d71372bc2ac3f305aa802 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Peter Zijlstra <a.p.zijlstra@xxxxxxxxx> Date: Tue, 2 Oct 2012 15:38:52 +0200 Subject: perf: Clarify perf_cpu_context::active_pmu usage by renaming it to ::unique_pmu From: Peter Zijlstra <a.p.zijlstra@xxxxxxxxx> commit 3f1f33206c16c7b3839d71372bc2ac3f305aa802 upstream. Stephane thought the perf_cpu_context::active_pmu name confusing and suggested using 'unique_pmu' instead. This pointer is a pointer to a 'random' pmu sharing the cpuctx instance, therefore limiting a for_each_pmu loop to those where cpuctx->unique_pmu matches the pmu we get a loop over unique cpuctx instances.
