This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled xen-blkback: don't leak stack data via response ring to the 4.4-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: xen-blkback-don-t-leak-stack-data-via-response-ring.patch and it can be found in the queue-4.4 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. >From foo@baz Sun Nov 19 11:12:05 CET 2017 From: Jan Beulich <jbeulich@xxxxxxxx> Date: Tue, 13 Jun 2017 16:28:27 -0400 Subject: xen-blkback: don't leak stack data via response ring From: Jan Beulich <jbeulich@xxxxxxxx> commit 089bc0143f489bd3a4578bdff5f4ca68fb26f341 upstream. Rather than constructing a local structure instance on the stack, fill the fields directly on the shared ring, just like other backends do. Build on the fact that all response structure flavors are actually identical (the old code did make this assumption too). This is XSA-216.
