This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled ALSA: msnd: Optimize / harden DSP and MIDI loops to the 3.18-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: alsa-msnd-optimize-harden-dsp-and-midi-loops.patch and it can be found in the queue-3.18 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. >From 20e2b791796bd68816fa115f12be5320de2b8021 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@xxxxxxx> Date: Thu, 6 Jul 2017 12:34:40 +0200 Subject: ALSA: msnd: Optimize / harden DSP and MIDI loops From: Takashi Iwai <tiwai@xxxxxxx> commit 20e2b791796bd68816fa115f12be5320de2b8021 upstream. The ISA msnd drivers have loops fetching the ring-buffer head, tail and size values inside the loops. Such codes are inefficient and fragile. This patch optimizes it, and also adds the sanity check to avoid the endless loops.
