This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled mm: fix double mmap_sem unlock on MMF_UNSTABLE enforced SIGBUS to the 4.12-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: mm-fix-double-mmap_sem-unlock-on-mmf_unstable-enforced-sigbus.patch and it can be found in the queue-4.12 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. >From 5b53a6ea886700a128b697a6fe8375340dea2c30 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Michal Hocko <mhocko@xxxxxxxx> Date: Fri, 18 Aug 2017 15:16:12 -0700 Subject: mm: fix double mmap_sem unlock on MMF_UNSTABLE enforced SIGBUS From: Michal Hocko <mhocko@xxxxxxxx> commit 5b53a6ea886700a128b697a6fe8375340dea2c30 upstream. MMF_UNSTABLE check however rewrites the error path to VM_FAULT_SIGBUS and we always expect mmap_sem taken in that path. Fix this by taking mmap_sem when VM_FAULT_RETRY is held in the MMF_UNSTABLE path. We cannot simply add VM_FAULT_SIGBUS to the existing error code because all arch specific page fault handlers and g-u-p would have to learn a new error code combination.
