Ah, I see this didn't make the 4.10.y yet. So yes, I would like to see
4.10.y and 4.9.y get this. It's not clear how I can ask for both since
acceptance in 4.9.y is dependent on acceptance into 4.10.y.
And any reason you didn't cc: the authors of the patch and the
maintainer?
It's not clear to me that I need to do this for Option 2.
After the patch has been merged to Linus’ tree, send an email
to stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx containing the subject of the patch,
the commit ID, why you think it should be applied, and what
kernel version you wish it to be applied to.
