This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled USB: serial: ch341: fix control-message error handling to my usb git tree which can be found at git://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/gregkh/usb.git in the usb-linus branch. The patch will show up in the next release of the linux-next tree (usually sometime within the next 24 hours during the week.) The patch will hopefully also be merged in Linus's tree for the next -rc kernel release. If you have any questions about this process, please let me know. >From 2d5a9c72d0c4ac73cf97f4b7814ed6c44b1e49ae Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Johan Hovold <johan@xxxxxxxxxx> Date: Fri, 6 Jan 2017 19:15:18 +0100 Subject: USB: serial: ch341: fix control-message error handling A short control transfer would currently fail to be detected, something which could lead to stale buffer data being used as valid input. Check for short transfers, and make sure to log any transfer errors. Note that this also avoids leaking heap data to user space (TIOCMGET) and the remote device (break control).
