This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled perf/x86/intel/cstate: Prevent hotplug callback leak to the 4.9-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: perf-x86-intel-cstate-prevent-hotplug-callback-leak.patch and it can be found in the queue-4.9 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. >From 834fcd298003c10ce450e66960c78893cb1cc4b5 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Thomas Gleixner <tglx@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Thu, 22 Dec 2016 11:02:08 +0100 Subject: perf/x86/intel/cstate: Prevent hotplug callback leak From: Thomas Gleixner <tglx@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> commit 834fcd298003c10ce450e66960c78893cb1cc4b5 upstream. If the pmu registration fails the registered hotplug callbacks are not removed. Wrong in any case, but fatal in case of a modular driver. Replace the nonsensical state names with proper ones while at it.
