This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled netfilter: x_tables: don't move to non-existent next rule to the 3.14-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: netfilter-x_tables-don-t-move-to-non-existent-next-rule.patch and it can be found in the queue-3.14 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. >From f24e230d257af1ad7476c6e81a8dc3127a74204e Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Florian Westphal <fw@xxxxxxxxx> Date: Fri, 1 Apr 2016 14:17:21 +0200 Subject: netfilter: x_tables: don't move to non-existent next rule From: Florian Westphal <fw@xxxxxxxxx> commit f24e230d257af1ad7476c6e81a8dc3127a74204e upstream. Ben Hawkes says: In the mark_source_chains function (net/ipv4/netfilter/ip_tables.c) it is possible for a user-supplied ipt_entry structure to have a large next_offset field. This field is not bounds checked prior to writing a counter value at the supplied offset. Base chains enforce absolute verdict. User defined chains are supposed to end with an unconditional return, xtables userspace adds them automatically. But if such return is missing we will move to non-existent next rule.
