This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled mwifiex: avoid memsetting PCIe event buffer to the 4.3-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: mwifiex-avoid-memsetting-pcie-event-buffer.patch and it can be found in the queue-4.3 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. >From 14d9c11c91a606fed65eaae2455423a23bb4ae59 Mon Sep 17 00:00:00 2001 From: Amitkumar Karwar <akarwar@xxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Fri, 18 Sep 2015 06:32:10 -0700 Subject: mwifiex: avoid memsetting PCIe event buffer From: Amitkumar Karwar <akarwar@xxxxxxxxxxx> commit 14d9c11c91a606fed65eaae2455423a23bb4ae59 upstream. Preallocated PCIe buffer is being reused for all PCIe interface events. Physical address of the buffer is shared with firmware so that it can perform DMA on it. As event length is specified in the header, there should not be a problem if the buffer gets overwritten. We will save some cycles by avoiding memset everytime while submitting the buffer to firmware.
