Note: since this was tagged with cc:stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, it
shouldn't be necessary to explicitly send a request to
stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx unless the original patch won't apply
automatically.  So this may have been the case for the 3.4 tree, but I
don't believe that this should have been necessary for the 3.8 or 3.9
trees.  Am I missing something?
