The patch below does not apply to the 3.8-stable tree.
If someone wants it applied there, or to any other stable or longterm
tree, then please email the backport, including the original git commit

This needs to be backported to both 3.7 and 3.8 stable trees. Doesn't apply straight,
but it's a quick change.
