This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled modpost: Add .irqentry.text to OTHER_SECTIONS to the 5.15-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: modpost-add-.irqentry.text-to-other_sections.patch and it can be found in the queue-5.15 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. commit fdd3192eaeaf79459d9db94dbfe2376fd600ca1d Author: Thomas Gleixner <tglx@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Date: Sun Dec 1 12:17:30 2024 +0100 modpost: Add .irqentry.text to OTHER_SECTIONS [ Upstream commit 7912405643a14b527cd4a4f33c1d4392da900888 ] The compiler can fully inline the actual handler function of an interrupt entry into the .irqentry.text entry point. If such a function contains an access which has an exception table entry, modpost complains about a section mismatch: WARNING: vmlinux.o(__ex_table+0x447c): Section mismatch in reference ... The relocation at __ex_table+0x447c references section ".irqentry.text" which is not in the list of authorized sections. Add .irqentry.text to OTHER_SECTIONS to cure the issue.
