This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled ext4: fix error message when rejecting the default hash to the 6.11-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: ext4-fix-error-message-when-rejecting-the-default-ha.patch and it can be found in the queue-6.11 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. commit 4e920415d0505e5667eb7189fd38c9428999b0ff Author: Gabriel Krisman Bertazi <krisman@xxxxxxx> Date: Tue Aug 27 16:16:36 2024 -0400 ext4: fix error message when rejecting the default hash [ Upstream commit a2187431c395cdfbf144e3536f25468c64fc7cfa ] Commit 985b67cd8639 ("ext4: filesystems without casefold feature cannot be mounted with siphash") properly rejects volumes where s_def_hash_version is set to DX_HASH_SIPHASH, but the check and the error message should not look into casefold setup - a filesystem should never have DX_HASH_SIPHASH as the default hash. Fix it and, since we are there, move the check to ext4_hash_info_init.
