This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled r8169: improve rtl_tx to the 5.10-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: r8169-improve-rtl_tx.patch and it can be found in the queue-5.10 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. commit 3015c2d0b0241d1ef7ae6c44c2f7661e9abdbf5f Author: Heiner Kallweit <hkallweit1@xxxxxxxxx> Date: Wed Nov 11 22:56:29 2020 +0100 r8169: improve rtl_tx [ Upstream commit ca1ab89cd2d654661f559bd83ad9fc7323cb6c86 ] We can simplify the for() condition and eliminate variable tx_left. The change also considers that tp->cur_tx may be incremented by a racing rtl8169_start_xmit(). In addition replace the write to tp->dirty_tx and the following smp_mb() with an equivalent call to smp_store_mb(). This implicitly adds a WRITE_ONCE() to the write.
