This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled dmaengine: ioat: Drop redundant pci_enable_pcie_error_reporting() to the 5.10-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: dmaengine-ioat-drop-redundant-pci_enable_pcie_error_.patch and it can be found in the queue-5.10 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. commit df66d38372323c8de08ee95d444a268cf57cbe2e Author: Bjorn Helgaas <bhelgaas@xxxxxxxxxx> Date: Tue Mar 7 13:26:54 2023 -0600 dmaengine: ioat: Drop redundant pci_enable_pcie_error_reporting() [ Upstream commit e32622f84ae289dc7a04e9f01cd62cb914fdc5c6 ] pci_enable_pcie_error_reporting() enables the device to send ERR_* Messages. Since f26e58bf6f54 ("PCI/AER: Enable error reporting when AER is native"), the PCI core does this for all devices during enumeration, so the driver doesn't need to do it itself. Remove the redundant pci_enable_pcie_error_reporting() call from the driver. Also remove the corresponding pci_disable_pcie_error_reporting() from the driver .remove() path. Note that this only controls ERR_* Messages from the device. An ERR_* Message may cause the Root Port to generate an interrupt, depending on the AER Root Error Command register managed by the AER service driver.
