This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled wifi: brcmfmac: pcie: handle randbuf allocation failure to the 6.8-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: wifi-brcmfmac-pcie-handle-randbuf-allocation-failure.patch and it can be found in the queue-6.8 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. commit cb0d142465a8498448996ac88c1ef4bc892a7a65 Author: Duoming Zhou <duoming@xxxxxxxxxx> Date: Wed Mar 6 22:04:37 2024 +0800 wifi: brcmfmac: pcie: handle randbuf allocation failure [ Upstream commit 316f790ebcf94bdf59f794b7cdea4068dc676d4c ] The kzalloc() in brcmf_pcie_download_fw_nvram() will return null if the physical memory has run out. As a result, if we use get_random_bytes() to generate random bytes in the randbuf, the null pointer dereference bug will happen. In order to prevent allocation failure, this patch adds a separate function using buffer on kernel stack to generate random bytes in the randbuf, which could prevent the kernel stack from overflow.
