This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled mlxsw: core_env: Fix driver initialization with old firmware to the 6.6-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: mlxsw-core_env-fix-driver-initialization-with-old-fi.patch and it can be found in the queue-6.6 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. commit d3f7c5f47080ce30af4ab6e3e914aecaf11f6aab Author: Ido Schimmel <idosch@xxxxxxxxxx> Date: Thu Apr 18 15:46:07 2024 +0200 mlxsw: core_env: Fix driver initialization with old firmware [ Upstream commit 7e2050a8366315aeaf0316b3d362e67cf58f3ea8 ] The driver queries the Management Capabilities Mask (MCAM) register during initialization to understand if it can read up to 128 bytes from transceiver modules. However, not all firmware versions support this register, leading to the driver failing to load. Fix by treating an error in the register query as an indication that the feature is not supported.
