This is a note to let you know that I've just added the patch titled wireguard: netlink: access device through ctx instead of peer to the 6.8-stable tree which can be found at: http://www.kernel.org/git/?p=linux/kernel/git/stable/stable-queue.git;a=summary The filename of the patch is: wireguard-netlink-access-device-through-ctx-instead-.patch and it can be found in the queue-6.8 subdirectory. If you, or anyone else, feels it should not be added to the stable tree, please let <stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> know about it. commit 1231a072c3717c0c763b0a8458d39d4c82ba8678 Author: Jason A. Donenfeld <Jason@xxxxxxxxx> Date: Thu Mar 14 16:49:10 2024 -0600 wireguard: netlink: access device through ctx instead of peer [ Upstream commit 71cbd32e3db82ea4a74e3ef9aeeaa6971969c86f ] The previous commit fixed a bug that led to a NULL peer->device being dereferenced. It's actually easier and faster performance-wise to instead get the device from ctx->wg. This semantically makes more sense too, since ctx->wg->peer_allowedips.seq is compared with ctx->allowedips_seq, basing them both in ctx. This also acts as a defence in depth provision against freed peers. Cc: stable@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Fixes: e7096c131e51 ("net: WireGuard secure network tunnel") Signed-off-by: Jason A.
